Saturday 17 June 2006: Changes in future the VOR

Today the organization of regata has offered a note of press in comunita which that the Volvo Ocean RACE happens to be summoned every two years instead of each 4 as it came until now happening. So that the next edition will be in 2008-2009. The route more will be varied and interesting since the great speeds that reach these boats have allowed the organization to extend the route that in future editions will also visit Asia, the Far East, and the coast the West of the United States.

From the dawn and protected by him the dark at night the Pirates have been the best ones taking control of all the opponents and beating to the ABN2 that at those moments led the test. At one and forty and eight minutes of afternoon arrived the Pirates to the goal obtaining the gold and very valuable points for the general.

In second position the ABN2 and next did from Rio de Janeiro led by the multichampion of the world Torben Grael.

In fourth position and after fighting with authentic force the Brunel of the Australians was classified having realized the best stage of the VOR and beating to the local equipment Ericsson.

16 Fridays June 2006: Pirate fighters

All the fleet stays very compact, with the Brasil1 at the top, while they fit to 11 knots of speed by the Danish coast with average winds. The ABN1 in spite of not needing not one point, managed to only happen of the last position to the second place in hours, to only one mile of the Brazilians. In third position the Ericsson followed close by the Pirates who are tightening very hard.  

15 Thursdays June 2006: Second place very bitter

It is clearly for a long time that Mike Sanderson with its ABN1 is winning of the Volvo Ocean RACE 2006, but the following places extremely are fought for want of being realized this last stage.

A very short stage of 500 miles that will finalize in the Swedish city of Gothenburg and whose final route will be decided moment by the organization in the last.

The exit absolutely has been disputed with 14 North wind knots, settling down two struggles formed on the one hand by the ABN2 with the Brasil1 and in another Ericsson side that haggles “in house” and the Pirates of the Caribbean.
