Conditions of inscription

Age: Any person whom she has more than 21 years.

Nationality: The nationality of the inscription will be the same that the one of the participant.

Number of participant: Any limitation does not exist.

State of health: Each participant will have to present/display signed by his doctor the demanded medical certificate for Vendée Globe. In the presence of chronic or evolutionary pathologies, the doctor of the organization will be able:

  • To give an unfavorable opinion.

  • Before pronouncing themselves, asking advice other doctors. In this case, the participant will have to consult with diverse specialists designated by the doctor of the organization.

If after these examinations the doctor of the organization concludes for medical reasons a negative opinion on the participation of the candidate, this last one will be able to appeal this decision to the federal doctor.

Obligatory courses of formation: All the offerers must have realized the following courses:

  • Short course of medical formation.

  • Short course of security and survival in the sea.

Demanded experience

The aspirings will be accepted on condition that of to have realized:

  • Either a transoceanic race, disputed alone during last the eight years, or to have participated in one of two previous editions of Vendée Globe on board monocoque of 60 feet, with which one register for the present edition.

  • Or to have disputed and to have finished last Vendée Globe on board a monocoque of 60 feet with which one register for this edition.

If the boat is different, the participant will be put under an observation route. This route of observation will be transoceanic alone, of at least 2500 miles, without casting anchor nor entering no port, a monocoque of 60 feet with which it is going away to register. The route must take place like minimum at an average speed of 7 knots. In order to certify it the interested one it must make sign the book of attack by the captains of the exit positions and arrival. The captains must certify that the aspiring left and arrived alone from the respective ports.

During the observation route, the aspiring must take a complete and detailed binnacle. He must have realized a calculation of astronavigation. The binnacle and the navigation chart must reflect the details of the calculation of astronavigation.

Boats authorized

Admitted class: Sailboats monocoque with lengths between 58 and 60 feet, that observe rules I.M.O.C.A. 60 feet 2004.

Energy and motorization: Each sailboat must be equipped with a motor according to indicates in rules I.M.O.C.A. All the maneuvers of candle must be realized by the force of the offerer. The propeller shaft must have a diametrical perforation of at least 4 millimeters to allow the passage of the seal cable. The rupture of this cable could originate the disqualification of the offerer. The batteries of the boat will be sealed before the exit.

Route

  • Exit from Them Sabers d' Olonne (France).

  • Route in the bay.

  • Cape of Good Hope to Port.

  • Cabo Leeuwin to Port.

  • Cape Horn to Port.

  • Arrival to the bay of Them Sabers d' Olonne.

Some doors or Waypoints could be defined during the race to improve the security of the race.

Classification

A classification in real time will settle down, after the application of possible penalties or advantages decided by the jury.

Prizes

Buoy of Port Bourgenay: 1º: 3.000 €

General classification:

  •  1 º: 150 000 €

  • 2 º:  90 000 €

  • 3 º:  60 000 €

  • 4 º:  40 000 €

  • 5 º:  30 000 €

  • 6 º:  20 000 €

If the number of following classified is equal or greater of 5, these will receive to separate remaining the 82,000 equals €. If the number is inferior to 5, each of them will receive the amount of 16,400 € and the 82,000 rest of € will be distributed to equal parts between all the classified participants.

Consultant's office of routes

It is prohibited the route advising. One is due to understand by advising of route, any customized indication, especially prepared for a single person or a group of participant people, who comes from the outside of the authorized meteorological sources of intelligence, that they allow to the understanding of different meteorological situations and the election of some route to choose or that she advises against.

Outer attendance

The offerers will not be able to have any material contact with any other boat or airship. He will not be able to reavituallar itself of any way. A participant can cast anchor she always considers if it necessary but by his own means and without no type of aid. Any wharf or port or boat will not be able to be briought alongside to. The participants cannot go to earth nor disembark beyond the limit marked by the line of high water. In case of not respecting these rules the offerer will be declassified of the race.

The direct medical aid on board is prohibited. Medical advice given by telephone, radio or fax are not considered like medical aid. In extreme cases, complementary medecines could be offered by other participant boats or in the following points defined by the organization: Cape of Good Hope, Cabo Leeuwin, Cape Horn.
