Barcelona World RACE is new regata to two of return to the world without scales, whose first edition will leave Barcelona day 11 of November of 2007 and that it will be celebrated every four years.

For the first time, the best professional navigators of the world will compete in equipment of two. For more than three months, they will cross 25,000 miles by the most hostile and challenging oceans of the world in monocoques of last generation of class IMOCA Open 60.

A return to the world without scales to two is realized, a concept that as much abre a fan of possibilities for the sport of extreme oceanic navigation in terms of competition as concerning the communications. Navigation to two allows to take the boat to the limit of its possibilities as far as speed and causes that the competition is more exciting.

As far as the communication, this regata could be followed in direct by the great public, since the boats will take on board installed cameras, facilitating therefore the attainment and interest of ample hearings, which will benefit to its diffusion and the result from the sponsors.

The BWR unites in a unique format, navigators of two different worlds: the one of the navigation alone, that counts on great competitions, like Vendée Globe, and the one of regatas with crew, like the Volvo Ocean RACE (VOR).

By their place in the international calendar, the BWR becomes a prelude for the Vendée Globe, that will be celebrated in the winter of 2008/09. The navigators will have the opportunity to try on to themselves and their thorough boats before undertaking the circumnavigation alone. Regata Barcelona World RACE also fits comfortably in the calendar of the Volvo Ocean RACE, giving the opportunity to the regatistas to confront a new professional challenge that overwhelms his more high aspirations.

One is predicted regata previous calificatoria, with scales in the United Kingdom and France, and finalizing in Barcelona, where the fleet in the middle of October of 2007 will meet.
