The new Navy for the next years

35.000 moorings only for the Mediterranean

 

During next the 10 years a 44% will be increased the dockage points. We will see the appearance of new ports and the remodeling and extension of many of the present ones.

Spain meets superb natural conditions for the practice of nautical sports. Their excellent climatology and its 7,880 kilometers of coast, offer very outstanding possibilities for the nautical one of recreation. But, the shortage of mooring points, continues being the main problem on which it counts the sector for the development of a market of great potential. At the moment the coastal account with 323 sport ports and 107,772 places of mooring while the total fleet of pleasure boats ascends to 186,136 units.

Almost two third parts of the sport ports and tourist nationals are in the Mediterranean, in front of the 123 ports of the areas of Cantabrian and the Atlantic one that represent 38% of infrastructures. By Independent Communities, the Balearics are placed at the top in number of sport ports, with 68 facilities, that represent 21% of the national total. Next the Valencian Community, with 47 ports, and Catalonia, with 46 sport navy. These three Independent Communities almost reunite half of the total of the Spanish ports.

   Extensions and the new navy

But in next the 10 years an increase of the 44 percent in the number of moorings will take place in Spain. For the Mediterranean coast prehorseradish tree more than 35,000 new points of dockage that will suppose the 75 percent of the total of the extensions, considered in 47.300 places. Therefore, it will be possible to find mooring, but there will be zones, like the Balearics or the Costa Brava, where it will only be possible to be acceded outside season to more reasonable prices, due to the difficulty to construct new ports.

In Catalonia, the Plan of arrangement of the Catalan coast contemplates for period 2006-2015 to increase the places of mooring in near 6,000, prioritizing the harbor extensions to the construction of new facilities. Between the new projects already concluded like the Port of Tarraco for superyachts and Navy Officers' Club of Revolutionary Armed Forces of Vilanova, they emphasize the extensions of Port Ginesta (Barcelona), San Carles of the Rápita, Sant Jordi de Alfama, Twig Stem and Port of Cubillas, (Tarragona) as well as the Port of Salou in phase of procedure.

On the other hand in the Balearics, the new law of Balearics Ports contemplates the harmonization of the harbor system with the territorial and city-planning planning, as well as with the preservation of the coast. Also it contemplates to a fort increase of the canons and rates in the present and future concessions of sport ports. Between 2007-2008, they will be extended the number of moorings of the ports of the Prawn, Estanyol, Molinar de Devant and Port Adriano, located all of them in Majorca. One calculates that in next the 10 years, the possible increase will be of 5,000 new moorings.

Valencia is the Community with greater number of new ports and extensions, its growth in the next years will be very important by the celebration of sport events of the stature of the America Glass and the Volvo Ocean RACE 2007, in Alicante. The new Harbor Law, that will be approved in this legislature, considers the creation of 2,000 new moorings for the 2007. In the Ports of General Interest: Castellón, Valencia and Alicante, will be created 2,500 points of dockage more during this period. In particular, the mentioned infrastructures are Burriana Nova de Castellón, the of Alicante Navy Saline of Torrevieja, with 400 new moorings, as well as Port America, with 700 places and Valencia Marine Superyacht, that will welcome boats of up to 140 meters of length. The objective determined until the 2015 contemplates 10,000 new places.

The community of Murcia at present has 5,685 moorings distributed in 19 facilities. The more significant infrastructures in construction are the Eagles, with 500 new dockages, and Navy CLOSE-WOVEN PART OF A FISHING NET, that will increase in 2.000 places the points of dockage of the Community in 2008. They will be finalized for the 2007, the extension of 200 moorings of San Pedro Pinatar; the 330 moorings of the Sport Dock of Mazarrón, and the new points of the Carthaginian Sport Port Dock of Curra. 10 procedures in course also exist, including 3 extensions, that will add 3,000 moorings more. The unsatisfied demand in the Murcian coast is considered in 1.500 places and until the 2015, the increase of the predicted demand will be of 8,000 new moorings.

Andalusia at the moment is in phase of procedure the new Law of Ports of Andalusia that introduces measures for the protection of the coast and anticipates to duplicate the existing moorings until year 2015, from the 13,500 present ones to the 25,000, as well as to increase also strongly the canons and the rates to pay by concessionaires and users. Between the extensions in course they emphasize those of navy of Ayamonte, Mazagón, Chipiona, Poultry dealers, Port America and Roquetas of Sea, for this 2007. For period 2008-2009 the extensions of Coal bunkers are predicted, Pulley, Benalmádena, Creek of Vélez and Marina the Bajadilla. The port the Rompido is at the moment in phase of construction.

The Canary Community, with more than 7,200 moorings, is summoning different contests to increase its supply. For the 2007, Port of the Iron it will increase in 200 his points of moorings, like the Galera and Valle Great King, while the Happy Port of Gran Canaria will extend in 2008 its places with 500 new dockages. The forecasts of extension for the next decade are amounted in 2.000 new moorings due to the inherent characteristics to the Atlantic coast.

Galicia is elaborating a plan director of sport ports and nautical facilities who has determined like main objectives the creation of an infrastructure network and the extension of the number of dockages. For the 2007 it emphasizes the creation of Navy Sport Davila in Vigo, that incorporates 150 moorings for boats of up to 40 meters of length, and the extensions of Ares and Cangas, as well as the recent construction of the Port of Moaña. The increase anticipated until 2015 is of 3,000 moorings.

In Asturias the supply of moorings of the Principality of Asturias is of 1,473 places and it is concentrated basically in the Sport Port of Gij'on (650) with extension forecasts. Despite the difficult conditions of the Asturian coast, the cost of infrastructures and the environmental protection limit the development of nautical facilities. By these reasons, it is only possible to mention the new port of Llanes, on the verge of being inaugurated, like new nautical infrastructure.

Cantabria approved a little more two years ago the Law of Ports 5/2004 of Cantabria that contemplates the development of sport activities nautical and the construction of new harbor facilities. This community registers an important deficit of moorings with 3,100 points of dockage, but due to the great cost of infrastructure works, a total of 3,150 new moorings is predicted for 2015. They will be distributed between the ports of Santander (250), I castrate (650), Suances (1.100) and San Vicente (550) as well as in the Port of Laredo, in phase construction, that will add 600 new places before 2009.

The Basque community has realized an important economic effort for the construction of sport ports with the creation of infrastructures of Hondarribia, Zumaia, Plentzia, and the remodeling of the ports of Getaria and San Sebastián. Between the most significant projects they emphasize the extension of the ports of San Sebastián and Passages, as well as the construction of the new Port of Orio, with 2,200 moorings.

 

   The great yachts

In order to be able to take care of the demand of the sector of the super yachts, diverse navy of the Mediterranean coast will see increased their infrastructures and points of dockage.

A remodeling of Port Navy is predicted Bell (Barcelona) in several phases until the 2010. The anticipated total investment ascends to 10 million Euros and will allow to have 30 new moorings to boats of 40 up to 150 meters of length.

Located in Tarragona, to 100 km to the south of Barcelona, the Navy of Port Tarraco was inaugurated in October of the 2006 with a total investment that will surpass the 40 million Euros. At the moment it has a capacity to 100 moorings to boats between 22 and 120 meters of length. 

Marine Officers' Club of Revolutionary Armed Forces of Vilanova, located to 50 km to the south of Barcelona, will be inaugurated in the middle of 2007. This infrastructure that is complemented with an important technical area, will have more than 40 moorings to boats of 30 to 60 meters of length.

Taking advantage of the event nautical by antonomasia, America' s Cup 2007, the Real Club Nautical of Valencia will extend its facilities. The remodeling, in phase of procedure, will include 50 new moorings for boats of 50 to 100 meters of length. Located inside the commercial port, between all the bases of the challenges of America' s Cup, Navy Super Valencia Yacht already is operative and offers 42 moorings for lengths between the 35 and 80 meters.

The Palma de Mallorca Dock will be the new technical area of reference in the Bay of Palm. Recently adjudged shortly the construction sites will begin.

Navy will be operative in March of 2008, and will have 55,000 m2 of area in earth and more than 25,000 m2 in the water. Its capacity in earth and water will allow the dockage of 100 boats of 20 to 70 meters. The maximum capacity of travellift will be of 600 Mt.

Navy Barcelona 92 is at present one of the technical but important areas of the Mediterranean. Its extension with a dock is predicted dries and another one sincrolift with capacity for boats of up to 150 meters of length. The total investment will be of more than 20 million Euros and will be totally operative in 2010.
