It is first of all the races alone around the world, inspired by a well-known previous race like the Golden Globe RACE of 1968, in which 9 boats left to give the return to the world and one (Sir Robin Knox-Johnston) was only able to finalize.

The first edition took place in 1982, then well-known one like the VOICE Challenge. It was a true challenge for the participants by the hardness of the test and the spirit of required sacrifice and adventure.

During editions celebrated in these last 25 years, they have taken place all type of events, including dramatic rescues, heroic moments of glory, actors, and beaten record of speed and resistance.

1982: VOICE Chalenge.

The first edition during the month of August, initially conceived by David White is inaugurated, and in that 17 boats compete way of the South of Africa, happening through the Cape of Good Hope and crossing the Seas of the South. It is raised with the victory in the 4 sleeves, a young person Philippe Jeantot with his Sloop of 56 feet Crédit Agricole, obtaining to circumnavigate the Earth in 159 days. In Class 2, a Japanese of Tokyo wins medical instructor of the Zen Buddhism and met navigator like Yukoh Tada. The passage was very hard taking place 2 rescues in 2 dramatic situations.

1986: VOICE Chalenge.

In this second edition competes 25 boats that leave from Newport, which 11 especially has been conceived and made for this race. Again it is raised with the victory Philippe Jeantot that arrives after 134 days of navigation and reducing therefore in 25 days its previous victory, followed by Titouan Lamazou. In Class 2, Mike Plant followed by JeanLuc VandenHeede wins.

1990 Around Alone RACE.

The used boats are more and more radical, with ballast tanks, they appear the first fiber designs of carbon, and warlike surfaces of enormous power. The design of the boat of Jeantot is more classic yielding the two first places to its compatriots Christophe Augin and Alain Gautier, but conserving excellent a third place with its Crédit Agricole IV. Fourth position Mike Plant enters. In this edition and thanks to strong maintained winds one becomes to reduce the mark until the 120 days secured by Augin. In class 2, another French Yves Dupasquier wins who raises itself with the victory of the 4 stages.

1994 Around Alone RACE.

Regata already is one totally implanted in the world-wide calendars of regatas. This 4º edition begins and finishes in Charleston, in Carolina of the South USA. The French Isabelle Autissier sails like a machine obtaining to arrive at Cape Town (South Africa) with 6 days of advantage against the classified second. But unfortunately as much structural effort is pleased, and in the second Isabelle section it breaks the wood having to saturate in the inhospitable Kerguelen islands in the South Pacific. Isabelle is able to make a respect mast and it puts again to sea. Again it breaks the mast and it must leave the boat being rescued by the Australian Navy. Without Autissier ahead Augin it is raised with the victory. The Dave Australian Adams takes control of the second place.

1998: Around Alone RACE.

The Italian navigator Giovanni Soldini with his boat of 60 feet, esponsorizado by Row raises with the victory finalizing the route in 116 days. Soldini must aid in the South Ocánoand of dramatic form to Isabelle Autissier whose boat has given the return without wanting to return to correct list itself. The British navigator Mike Golding who leads then the test stars against a coast near the North end of New Zealand, destroying his sailboat.

2002: Around Alone RACE.

This 6º edition of regata is gained by Swiss Bernard consequent Stamm to only give the return to the world in 115 days and by the North American Brad Van Liew in Class 2.

Emma Richards becomes the first woman and younger regatista than is able to finalize the race. Derek Hatfield breaks the mast of its Open 40 near Cape Horn but it grasps them to continue in race.
